What is the duration of MBBS?

In India-
• 1st year - 12 months
• 2nd year - 18 months
• 3rd year - 12 months
• 4th year - 12 months

So total period for academics in India is 4.5 years. 1 year again gets added into this as compulsory internship making it 5.5 years.

In foreign countries -
• Russia, Ukraine - 5 years 8 months + 1 year internship in India. One year is divided into two semesters and there are 12 semesters in total.
• Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan - 5 years + 1 year internship in India.
• Philippines - 2 years of BS + 4 years of MBBS + 1 year of internship in India.
• USA - 4 years of MBBS + 3 years of residency

The primary mbbs course is for 4-6 years depending on the country. A mandatory year gets added for internship in India.
